Visit from an Ex-Resident

Kelly was a resident at Elizabeth Fry in 2010. She moved on successfully and has kept in touch, particularly with Magda, her keyworker. We were delighted when Kelly made the journey from her home in Kent to pay us a visit in November.

Kelly states “I came to Elizabeth Fry to learn a lesson because what I did was wrong. Through the groups I learned how to cope with life and have a better relationship with my family”. Kelly said that she considers her time at Elizabeth Fry to have had a huge impact on the way she values herself, what she expects from others and how she manages the key relationships in her life.
Kelly is honest in stating that she found leaving the intensive support of the hostel frightening.  She spent some time living with a family in Reading before moving on to a flat in Kent. Kelly’s flat is now well and truly home and she has an established support system around her.  It’s always a real joy to hear from ex-residents who are continuing to put what they have learned at Elizabeth Fry into practice and who are achieving their goals. Well done Kelly!
