Enabling Environment Award

We are delighted to have received the Enabling Environment Award. This is a mark of quality that shows a service has met critical standards and is an Enabling Environment. The Standards for Enabling Environments comprise ten areas of work which together make up the core values of a healthy psychosocial environment. These are: belonging, boundaries, communication, development, involvement, safety, structure, empowerment, leadership and openness.

I am incredibly proud of the entire staff team and resident group for their commitment to ensuring that we provide the most enabling and supportive environment we can for all who enter the premises. The journey to achieving the award provided us with a valuable opportunity to pause, take stock and consider why we do things and how we could do them better. This process required engagement from all involved, residents and staff alike and I’m confident that all who participated would agree with me that the changes have benefited us all.

Being an Enabling Environment does not of course stop with achieving the award and we continue to work with residents to create an environment which is identified by good quality and supportive relationships, effective communication and opportunities for everyone to try new things and share their ideas.
